He Municipality of Panama has suspended the sticker inspection campaign scheduled for next Monday, due to the endless queue of taxpayers who came this Friday to try to remove their sticker corresponding to last year’s road tax.
On Friday afternoon, the mayor’s office released the statement the operation is suspended to give taxpayers more time to pay and pick up the stickers.
According to the Mayor’s Office, Another 350,000 stickers await removal from January to October 2023.
A law on this was passed a few years ago gave the validity of vehicle registration plates for five yearsso the issue of cans decreased and now what is issued to every driver at the end of the term is a sticker with permission to traffic.
On the other hand, the municipality announced that as of next Monday, the stickers will be canceled for those vehicles that had to renew their certificates in the month November 2023
There are many complaints on social media from taxpayers citing alleged malfunctions in the municipality’s digital system for the delivery of stickers for vehicles.
Some decried that even though they have paid their taxes and are up-to-date, The system shows that they are delinquents and not just for one year, but up to two years.
This Friday an older adult passed out while standing in a long line to pick up his sticker at the agency located in Francisco Arias Paredes Park, diagonally from the headquarters of the Panama Mayor’s Office.
Reacting to the long queues recorded in the last hours, the Office of the Chief Mayor reminded that the collection center in the Hatillo building Open on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
