Michael Amir Murillo leads Marseille’s win

A goal on the half hour from Panamac Michael Murillo This gave Marseille its fourth consecutive victory, with a victory against Clermont (2-1), the last place of the French Ligue 1, which ends its sixteenth round this Sunday.

Despite the huge gap in the table, it was not easy for Gennaro Gattuso’s team to play the game at the Velodrome stadium.

It was played in the 29th minute when Murillo capitalized on Pierre Emerick Aubameyang’s cross and beat Mory Diaw for the lead of Marseille, who extended their advantage on the brink of the break, in the 42nd minute, thanks to Moroccan Amine Harit, who is the second scorer.

The game was in the hands of Marseille, who relaxed and used Clermont’s advantage to regain the momentum. Gabonese Jim Allevinah scored for 2-1 with a header from a corner taken by Austrian Muhammed Cham.

Marseille kept the type that sealed the victory in the end and settled in sixth place, one behind Lille, fifth and two behind Brest, which marks the Champions League zone.

The coach said he liked the game, although he told the players there was room for improvement.

“We had a great first half, tactically and technically. We suffered in the second half. But we have excuses, we came back from Brighton at 5am on Thursday,” Gattuso said.

The victory against Clermont marks the eleventh consecutive match that Olympique de Marseille has not lost at home (8 wins, 3 draws).

Murillo arrived in Marseille from the Belgian Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht at the end of August this year.

The Panamanian played for three seasons in the USA for the New York Red Bulls, which he joined in 2017. Then he went to Europe.

In the Anderlecht jersey, he played 134 games and scored 14 goals.
