Yadier Molina will be the Cardinals’ special counsel

St. The St. Louis Cardinals announced yesterday that former Puerto Rican catcher Yadier Molina will remain with the franchise for which he played his entire Major League career, now as a special advisor to the club’s president of baseball operations, John Mozeliak.

“We are excited about Yadi’s return to the St. Louis Cardinals. In his new role with the team, he will provide invaluable assistance at both the Major League level and our minor league teams,” Mozeliak said in the announcement.

After retiring from baseball at the end of the 2022 campaign, Molina revealed that he received several offers to manage in the Major Leagues, which he turned down to spend more time with his family, so this new job with the Cardinals will allow him to remain connected to baseball and spend the family time he demands.

In his Major League career, Molina played 19 seasons with the Cardinals, becoming a symbol of the National League team’s success.

During this journey, Molina led the Cardinals to four World Series appearances, winning the 2006 and 2011 editions.
