The company First Quantum this Tuesday spoke about the latest developments that include Panama Mining.
In a statement, the company said it took note of President Laurentin Cortiz’s Oct. 29 announcement of the government’s intention to hold a Dec. 17 public consultation on Law 406.
In this regard, First Quantum specifies that it contacted the Government to find out the details of the consultation.
They add that they have taken note of the comments of v election court regarding the legal and logistical considerations of this consultation.
Another problem the Canadian company was aware of was the unconstitutionality lawsuits that were filed, some of which were upheld.
First Quantum points out that it always has been defender of Panama and its people, which is why it stands for the rule of law with the aim of achieving benefits for the state, its citizens, the company and its stakeholders.
Don’t forget that it contributes significantly to the Panamanian economy and creates opportunities to empower thousands of Panamanians.
“We are committed to doing business in an environmentally sensitive way, fulfilling our environmental obligations and supporting biodiversity through reforestation plans,” he claims.

According to First Quantum, the company remains focused on the safety and well-being of its more than 8,000 employees who continue to operate the mine.
