After nine days of protests, street closures and marches disrupting the free flow of products to consumer centers, the agri-food sector unions have issued a strong warning.

Representatives of the private sector Council for Monitoring and Compliance of State Agricultural and Food Policythey expressed concern about food shortages in homes and hospitals, which is also hurting domestic producers.
They added that road closures cause serious harm to people.
“Given the right that people have to food, as well as basic products for human survival, the lack of these threatens the health of the population in general and the destruction of the manufacturing sector,” they said.
The monitoring council asked the protesters to allow free transit of transportation that allows these essential products to reach Panamanian homes.
