Panama, Codicader Student Games Champion

Panama’s delegation added a total of 108 medals to finish first in the overall table and become the champion of the Central American Isthmus Council for Sports and Recreation (Codicader) Student Sports Games.

Panama’s medal haul is divided into 52 gold, 36 silver and 20 bronze medals.

Nicaragua completed the podium with 127, but with fewer gold medals than Panama (40 gold, 50 silver and 37 bronze) and Costa Rica with 85 (33 gold, 31 silver and 21 bronze).

Panama won 28 gold, 18 silver and 11 bronze medals in the men’s category, while in the women’s category they won 23 gold, 17 silver and 8 bronze medals.

This year’s competition was held in five different locations, Belize hosted the basketball and table tennis tournaments, Panama hosted men’s baseball and women’s softball; Honduran soccer and swimming; Nicaraguan martial arts (judo, karate, wrestling and taekwondo) and Costa Rican athletics (conventional and disabled).

In team sports, Panama won gold in men’s basketball (Abel Bravo College) and women’s basketball (Justo Arosemena Institute); They were also the best in baseball (Colegio Félix Olivares), and women’s softball (Colegio Desmond Byam) and men’s soccer took first place.

Panamanian athletes also stood out with a number of medals in table tennis, swimming, martial arts and classical athletics and athletics for the disabled.
