CCIAP: the country requires clear leadership and concrete actions

The Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP) he pointed out that the country is going through situations with great social, economic and political impact that require clear presidential leadership, which implements concrete actions that give confidence and peace to private companies and, above all, to civil society in general.

According to CCIAP, first of all, there is still uncertainty created by the negative outlook of an international rating agency, which has sown doubts in the center of official financial policy, and so far they do not see it being given due importance or realistic receptivity in this matter. Not to mention elaborate explanations in this sense.

In addition, they mentioned the reform to Electoral Code in the midst of an election contest that is already more than half over and which ignores the feelings of the citizens. This weakens confidence in the democratic system, which now more than ever has to show signs of strength.

They pointed out that in the midst of the income crisis, they do not know about the savings measures that the government plans to implement, especially considering the state’s general budget, which will obviously cause problems for the administration that will take over the state in 2024.

“Continuing to juggle to increase revenue only exacerbates that perception. This is why we demand an urgent and necessary reduction of the proposed budget”, says CCIAP.

The union pointed that out A series of subsidies that were initially temporary continues to be extended, without giving solid arguments about the source of funding. Irresponsible transfer of part of the burden of this financing to private companies.

Also, they believe that the financial situation in Disability, old age and death from the Social Insurance Fundit seems to be the concern of the whole country except those who manage the affairs of the state.

Explanations from the Executive Board regarding the management of the association’s funds are still awaited. Decentralizationalong with an unpresentable request to increase the budget.

“This tornado situation, among many others that could arise, requires concrete actions from the side The President of the Republic as head of statewho lead Panamanians and show the will to get back on track with the country,” adds CCIAP.

According to the union, they not only expressed their opinion on these and other issues, but also made suggestions for action. However, these proposals do not progress without the decisions and actions that accompany them. In the face of great challenges, great leadership. We Panamanians deserve it.
