Hibrahim Valdespino: ‘Boxing gave me goals’

Boxing is discipline, risks, concentration, but for the promising Hibrahim Valdespin, Rookie of the Year 2022, his goals are big in the sport of “ring and gloves”, where he admits that he works hard every day, demands more and states, “boxing gave me goals” , He said.

Valdespino, who will have the responsibility of being the star on the KO Cancer card, admits that he was surprised to be the Rookie of the Year in 2022, “I did not expect that award,” he said, adding that this is why he prepares every day, does not leave the ring and he asks for more, because like every athlete his goal is always to win, he has goals, to be a world champion and to graduate from college.

In the Cancer KO card, Hibrahim Valdespino will face Kadir Macías in the main fight, both undefeated, in a scheduled fight at 126 pounds and 6 rounds, an event organized by Laguna Premium Boxing, this October 27 at the Pandeportes Combat Center in Juan Díaz.

Statistics show that Valdespino has an undefeated record of 3-0 (2 KOs), while Macías is also 3-0, but without a knockout.

One fight is not like another, Macías may not have been able to land a good punch and that’s why he didn’t knock out, “I have to be ready for everything, I’m focused,” said Valdespino, who repeated that don’t trust his opponent’s strength at all.

Valdespino admits that he started boxing late, he did it as a hobby on Calle Primera in Chorrillit in Juan Díaz, he was 18 years old, he had just graduated in commerce with an emphasis on accounting, he put on gloves thanks to a neighbor for training, but in the end he liked it and between work and the ring he decided on fist sports.

A car accident when he broke his leg kept him away from the ring before the pandemic, but he returned to Olympic boxing, he did at least 35 fights, which is not much, but as he himself admits, he started late, rose to professionalism and repeats his goals.

Valdespin’s goal is to be world champion, graduate from university and have a peaceful, stable life, live comfortably.

Valdespino claims he has reached his second year of public administration at the university, has less to finish and wants to return to higher education to earn his degree.

Valdespino’s trainer is Ricardo “El Maestrito” Córdoba, a former world champion and lawyer, so he listens to his instructions in the ring and advice, it motivates him to go for his goals, a world champion and a college degree, that’s what he’s preparing for.
