CCIAP: The semiconductor industry will create jobs

The development of the semiconductor industry in Panama will create specialized jobs in areas such as design, engineering, manufacturing and management, such as Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Panama (CCIAP).

In days gone by, Government of Panama and the United States reached an agreement on the development of industry in this country semiconductors and other related activities, and for CCIAP it is a positive step towards deepening the diversification of the economy and capacities related to world trade.

In addition, the union believes that cooperation with the United States and support International Fund for Security and Technological Innovation will be an important incentive for the arrival of larger investments by companies from that country to Panama.

“Technology companies and semiconductor manufacturers will have an attractive platform in Panama to establish business and take advantage of our strategic position in the region,” they said.

According to the union, this joint work with the United States will facilitate access to cutting-edge resources, knowledge and technology, which in turn will stimulate innovation and research in electronics, semiconductors and information technology.

Technology as an economic activity will not stop growing, and any country that organizes its capabilities and infrastructure to capitalize on it will be in a position to add significant value to its citizens.

The CCIAP recommends using this extraordinary opportunity for the national government and society as a whole for serious promotion Education in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

Although they recognize that the challenges in education matters obviously do not disappear with this announcement, but if the high-tech industry is managed, it should be the best incentive for the state to complete the unfulfilled tasks in education.

In addition, opportunities of this magnitude can only materialize when there is political stability, a strengthened democracy and a justice system that shows clear steps towards impartiality and efficiency.

“With the country on the threshold of an electoral tournament, there will be no better time to generate serious and long-term commitments that unleash Panama’s enormous potential, so this moment is real and appropriate to relaunch the new strengths and opportunities we offer as a nation,” concludes CCIAP.
