Panama will play the 2024 Caribbean Series in Miami

After a “titanic fight” Panama will finally play Caribbean Series 2024, in Miami, United Stateshe announced President of the Panamanian Professional Baseball League (Probeis), David Salayandia.

“We are very happy because it was a titanic battle, at first we were a bit disappointed because there were six teams and Panama was not there, but the window opened, we worked hard and the goal of being in the Caribbean series in 2024 was achieved,” Salayandia said.

The announcement that Panama will remain in the competition, as the seventh team and again as a guest, was announced this Friday at the meetings of the league presidents with Caribbean Professional Baseball Confederation (CBPC).

The Panamanians will play their sixth consecutive Caribbean series in Miami.

“In 2019, we started doing it in Panama, and then we were in Puerto Rico, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela,” the Panamanian leader pointed out.

In 2019, the Panamanians welcomed the championship as an emergency, managing to win the series and thus add their second title in this tournament.

“Now it’s just a matter of working and trying to bring the best team, regardless of who wins the league, to represent the country in this beautiful setting, Marlins Stadium,” Salayandia said.

The winner of the 2023 Probeis League, which will be held later this year, will then face representatives from the professional leagues of Nicaragua, Mexico, Curaçao, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic in a head-to-head round, with the top four advancing to the semi-finals to later compete for the championship.

The Panamanian leaguer will debut in the tournament on February 2 against the representatives of Curacao. They will face Mexico the next day.

Then they will play with Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and the elimination round will close on February 7 against the Dominican Republic.
