An airline company Wingo announced this Wednesday its first domestic route in Panama, which will connect Panama Pacific Airport and the city of David, the capital of the agro-industrial and touristic province of Chiriquí.
According to a press release from Tocumen International Airport, the first takeoff will take place on August 11.
Wingo currently offers international destinations to Barranquilla, Cartagena, Bogotá, Medellín and Cali in Colombia, as well as Havana in Cuba and San José in Costa Rica.
“Panama has always been an important market for Wingo and that is why we are growing in this country, offering more connectivity options for its residents. Now we offer David our first domestic operation which, along with seven international routes, reflects the relevance of the Panamanian market in our business strategy,” said Jorge Jiménez, the company’s director of commercial and planning.
The management of Tocumen SA also expressed its satisfaction with the addition of this new destination that facilitates the internal connectivity of the country.
“This new private investment will contribute to the logistic-tourism development of the western region of Panama and to the strengthening of the province of Chiriquí as a pole of development,” said the governor of the province of Chiriquí, Juan Carlos Muñoz Franceschi.
The Panama Pacifico-David route will begin sales at promotional launch fares of $49 one-way.
In addition, flights will be offered twice a week, Friday and Sundaybecoming an alternative for those who want to move during the weekend between the two main cities of Panama.

The Panama Pacific-David route will be the first to be operated by Wingo Panama, an airline with a Panamanian operating certificate and approved by the Panama Civil Aviation Authority.
