Business creation is increasing in Spain but decreasing in Galicia

Business start-ups fell by 3.2% in the community compared to a 13.9% increase in the country as a whole

Galicia registered a total of 328 companies created in Maywhich is 3.2 percent less than in the same month last year, according to data published by the State Statistics Office (INE) on Friday.

In this way, Galicia is one of the only two communities where the opening of companies decreased this month, after Navarre (-10.7%). This failure contrasts with the general increase among communities, s which is an increase of 13.9% in the country’s averagewith a total of 10,404 companies, which is the highest number in the fifth month of the year since 2008.

Therefore, the establishment of Galician companies accumulates two consecutive months of year-on-year decline, a very different picture from the five consecutive months of growth in Spain.

The registered and paid capital for the establishment of these companies in Galicia amounted to almost 4.8 million euros in May. Among the 328 registered companies, only one was SA, and the rest were SL.

Likewise, 101 companies increased their capital by EUR 23.2 million, and 25 decreased their capital by EUR 24.8 million.

for his part, 91 companies were dissolved in Galicia in the fifth month, 3.2% less than a year ago, more pronounced than the 1.6% decline in the country.

For the establishment of 10,404 companies created last May in the country, slightly more than 360 million euros were registered, which is 4.3% less than in the same month of 2022, while the average registered capital, which amounted to 34,604 euros, decreased by 16% year-on-year. year.

While the establishment of trading companies increased, the termination of trading companies in May decreased by 1.6 percent compared to the same month in 2022, to a total of 1,702. In this way, every day in the month of May, 55 companies closed their doors in Spain.

In the first five months of this year, more than 50,000 companies were foundedwhich is 10% more compared to the same period in 2022. On the other hand, the number of liquidated companies increased by 0.9% until May.

On a month-over-month basis (May vs. April), new business creation rose 20.7%, the highest rate since November 2022, when it was 21.9%.
