Panama promotes a volcanic area on the border with Costa Rica

Authorities from Panama and the private sector announced this Thursday that they will promote the cities located on the slopes Volcano Baruarea known as “Highlands” near the border with Costa Rica.

The main event for the promotion of that region will be “Expo Adventures Highlands”, which will take place in between July 17 and 19.

“This is a fair organized by the Tierras Altas tourism sector, where Panamanian and international tour operators interested in promoting Panama as a tourist destination, specifically the Tierras Altas district, come,” the Panamanian tourism minister told EFE. Ivan Eskildsen.

The tourism authorities and the private company Tierras Altas announced at a press conference the celebration of the fair, an event that brings together local and international companies to establish alliances with hotels and tour operators in the area in order to strengthen the tourism offer.

During the launch of the “expo”, the Minister of Tourism of Panama, members were present Tourism Promotion Fund (PROMTUR), Copa Airlines, Tierras Altas Chamber of Tourism and Commerce and Industryas well as event organizers.

“In Tierras Altas, they have a part of nature and agrotourism as the central focus. In the part of nature we have Baru Volcano National Parkthe highest point in the country where you can see two oceans, after a beautiful hike,” Eskildsen explained.

And he added that “in terms of agritourism, there are coffee circles to taste and learn how to prepare the most valuable coffee in the world, according to international auctions. As well as other activities such as strawberries and other crops.”
