Stopped the Labor Inspection strike a day after it started

The unions condemn the “instrumentalization” of the strike between the two factions in the government

First strike indefinite in history Labor and Social Security Inspection (ITSS), which started on Monday, ended this Tuesday with the agreement of the union of callers, who justify the end of the strike by the “instrumentalization” of the conflict by the Government.

“We decided to suspend the strike because the Spanish government instrumentalized the Labor Inspectorate. They used the Labor Inspectorate for party purposes and wanted to drag us into a war of political accusations,” assured the president of the Inspectors’ Union, the president of the Inspectors’ Union, in statements to the media on Tuesday. Ana Ercoreca.

The call unions —CIG, CSIF, Usess, SITSS, Sislass, UGT and UPIT—, as well as CC.OO., which withdrew from the call at the end of last week, have been condemning the political use of the conflict for more than a month, due to cross accusations between the Ministry of Labor and the Ministry of Finance and Public Functions. “The Spanish government instrumentalized the Labor Inspectorate, while we are a public service that has been working since 1906 to ensure the rights of workers. They did not have good faith or transparency,” condemn the unions that called for the strike in a statement announcing its end.

In a press release, the unions accuse the Ministry of Finance and Public Activities of a “lack of intention” to comply with the Labor and Social Welfare Inspectorate’s staffing plan, which is why they decided to end the strike.

This same morning, the unions gathered in front of the headquarters of the public office in Madrid’s Santa Engracia Street to demand that the Government respect the ITSS Strategic Plan, approved in 2021, as well as the commitment of April 2022 to immediately set in motion the reform of the body.

Unions were focused on the upcoming meeting of the executive committee of the inter-territorial remuneration commission (Cecir), which should eventually approve the amendment to the list of posts (RPT) demanded by the central offices and approved by the Government. However, JP assures that it is an ordinary meeting where “no decision regarding the Inspection is foreseen [de Trabajo]».
