Encounter tourism, with an economic impact of millions

Panama tourist tourism had a week full of activity, after the celebration of version number 16 FIEXPO Latin America.

This event was held on June 21 and 22, 2023 in ul Panama Convention Centerwhich for the second time hosted the most important business tourism event in the region.

By 2023, the goal of the international event was to formulate high-level strategies in the organization of events, emphasizing sustainability in the processes of creation and development of congresses and meetings.

Minister for Panama TourismDuring his speech at the event, Iván Eskildsen indicated that holding FIEXPO in Panama for three consecutive years, until 2024, is synonymous with the country’s good positioning within the congress industry in the region.

Eskildsen assures that this is the result of hard work to establish this as inn priority segment of the Sustainable Tourism Master Planin cooperation with the private sector and PROMTUR Panama.

Eskildsen emphasized the remarkable growth of tourism, noting that this year was the best first quarter in the history of tourism in the country, and the meetings industry was a fundamental factor in this achievement.

“Last year, in the first full year of the Panama Convention, we doubled the goal we had, with a total of 96,000 visitors, and this year we are on track to exceed the goal of 136,000 visitors,” said the administrator.

Almost 1,800 professionals from 80 destinations, including buyers, specialized suppliers, speakers and representatives of international organizations met in Panama during this event.

It is estimated that FIEXPO will leave an economic impact on the country 8.3 million dollars.
