Panama advanced to the semifinals of the Maurice Revello tournament

Under-23 team Panama drew 1-1 and won 9-8 on penalties, enough to advance to the semi-finals Maurice Revello Tournament formerly known as Hope from ToulNot.

The team led by technical Jorge Dely Valdes they dominated most of the first half, but it was Morocco who scored first in the match, in an apparent offside that was not awarded by the match referee.

After that goal, the Panamanian team looked for an equalizer, with few alternatives and options to score, against a Moroccan team that was waiting in its area and trying to play on the counter attack.

For the second half, Dely Valdés made changes, looking for fresh legs and attack with the introduction of Ricardo Phillips, Luis Fields and Edilson Carrasquilla, in place of Martín Moran, Emanuel Ceballos and Edward Cedeño.

In extra time, the national team continued to look for an equalizer, and it came thanks to a free kick by Ángel Orelién in the 67th minute.

From that moment on, the Panamanian line-up continued to control the game, trying to secure a result that would guarantee them a ticket to the semi-finals.

In the 89th minute, Ricardo Phillips deflected a cross Reynel Perdomo than his shot, but into the goalkeeper’s hands Morocco.

With this result, the Panama national team ends up as the leader of group C with 6 points, Ivory Coast (5), Morocco (3), Japan (3).

Panama will now face Australia this Friday in the semi-finals, while Mexico will face France.
