Tennis players fit for the Cotecc tournament in Honduras

Ilan Cukier, Carlos Cabarcos and Cesar Hernandezare part of the Panamanian national team that will participate in the U12 tournament Central American and Caribbean Tennis Confederation (Cotecc) which will be held from June 13 to 18 in National Tennis Center Sports Complex “José Simeon Azcona Hoyo” Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

Three Panamanian tennis players will be captains coach Bobby Johnson.

This competition for players up to 12 years of age will bring together the three best players from Belize, Costa Rica, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Honduras and Panama.

Format of The tournament is like the Davis Cup each match will be played with two singles matches and one doubles match. The initial round is played in groups where the two best teams from each group qualify for the main draw.

“Last year we won second place in the qualifications for the semifinal round this year we’re hoping to do the same thing again,” Johnson said.

“The players come well prepared with their coaches and the joint work took place during the summer, and this last week we worked on certain aspects such as pairings that are crucial for this type of tournament“, said the coach.

“The tournament will be held on a hard surface (cement), so we switched the training to this way surface to go well prepared for engagement“, Johnson finished.
