The sector expects to reach revenues of more than 776,000 million euros

The airlines will leave behind losses caused by the coronavirus pandemic and is expected to earn $9.8 billion (9.167 million euros) this year, said Director General of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Willie Walsh.

In his speech at the inauguration of the 79th IATA General Assembly, which takes place from Monday to Tuesday in the Turkish city of Istanbul, Walsh said it is expected that sector revenues reach 803,000 million dollars (776,500 million euros).

This means they will earn an average of $2.50 per passenger, a level of profitability that is “obviously not sustainable, but considering that in 2020 airlines lost $76 per passengerthe speed of recovery is great.”
