The attack took place in the village of Pionerskoye. Prilepin entered Russia from Donbass. He was heading to relatives in the Nizhny Novgorod region. The Audi Q7 car was blown up at around 11 am. The driver died on the spot and the writer was seriously injured – he was wounded in the leg.
As it turned out, an explosive device was placed under the hood of the car: its load capacity was equivalent to at least 2.5 kilograms. After the explosion, the car overturned and a funnel with a diameter of about one and a half meters was formed. under it.
It is known that Prilepin and the driver, who was a citizen of Ukraine, were alone in the car. Zakhara’s daughter got out of the car just a few minutes before the explosion: she was dropped off at the cottage. After that, the writer drove about 200 meters and the car exploded.
