How long did Russian stars want to be in childhood?
Alexander Petrov
Alexander’s acting talent comes from his mother, who studied at a theater studio in his youth. And from dad – love for football: as a child, the boy watched matches with Andrei Genrikhovich and learned biographies of famous athletes. Sasha also played football himself: he played in the section of a local club, participated in city and regional championships. Saša’s childhood dream can be easily guessed – he wanted to become a professional athlete.
But chance got in the way. During a summer internship at school, a mountain of bricks fell on him. The boy suffered a severe head injury and the doctors forbade him to continue active sports.
Then, at school, Petrov showed an acting flair. In 6-7 he began depicting the students and teachers of his school to the class, which he succeeded in doing and brought his audience to tears. So, in 2008, the young man entered RATI (GITIS) for the first time and was even exempted from multi-level entrance checks. And he returned to his childhood dream of the field and the ball – when he starred in the sports drama Streltsov.

Philip Kirkorov
Philip Kirkorov grew up in a creative family and from childhood went on tour with his parents. He first appeared on stage at the age of three. Or rather ran out. His mother Victoria Markovna worked as an entertainer for her father. Once at a concert, she announced the performance of Bedros. As soon as she had time to say the “Arno Babajanyan song”, little Philip appeared on the stage and shouted loudly: “Memory!”. The hall exploded with laughter. So the future artist made his debut as an entertainer.
It seemed that the future of Kirkorov was determined, and the son of creative parents did not resist. But he didn’t want to sing, but perform tricks and work in the circus, like his grandparents. Unfortunately, the dream of mastering the profession of an illusionist did not come true – in his youth, the vocal career of the future star was also threatened.
Philip planned to enter GITIS, but the teachers decided that his vocal abilities were not enough. After failing at GITIS, Kirkorov had a three-day depression, which his grandmother helped to cope with. She gave prophetic words to her grandson that it was worth the wait – and his phone would be disconnected. And so it happened: Philip became a student at the Gnessin Music College and began the path to the position of the king of pop.

Tina Kandelaki
On November 10, 1975, a daughter, Tinatin, appeared in the family of economist Givi Shalvovich and narcologist Elvira Georgievna. Their family was considered good and prosperous, not only because the parents worked successfully in this profession – Tina’s father belongs to a noble Georgian family. Mom and dad did not have to worry about the honor of the birth name, because Tina could safely be called the pride of her parents. She studied well and was able to enter medical school, planning to become a plastic surgeon.
Tina’s desire to work in medicine was not a childhood dream – the girl made a conscious decision. “The fact is that Georgia was one of the first republics in the Soviet Union to actively apply the discoveries made in the field of plastic surgery,” explained Tina.
But surgery was not her vocation – Tina could see that already in her first year, when she had the opportunity to go through a casting call on one of the Georgian channels. Kandelaki was hired as a television presenter. The first work experience showed the girl that her life would not be connected with medicine, so she decided to transfer to the faculty of journalism.

Dima Bilan
Dima was a lively child in kindergarten: he didn’t let anyone sleep during quiet hours, took food from other children, and once in winter he stuck his tongue to a post. But he did not differ from most boys in his views on future life and dreamed of becoming an astronaut.
In the second grade, the boy auditioned for the choir. The parents were not happy about this, as the father believed that his son should follow in his footsteps and become an engineer. A few years later, mom and dad agreed to teach the child music, and Bilan and his sister went to a music school. He first studied the accordion, and then moved to the vocal class – and so began the musical journey of the future triumph in Eurovision.
But dreams of space did not leave Dima. In 2011, the singer and his producer Yana Rudkovskaya said that the artist was saving money for space travel and dreamed of singing hundreds of kilometers from Earth. So far, these plans have not come to fruition – while Dima has a Planet Bilan show from space, reminiscent of his dream.

Fedor Dobronravov
Dobronravov dreamed of becoming a clown from an early age. As a teenager, he began attending the circus studio at the House of Culture of the Krasnyj Kotelshchik plant. There he mastered the skills of a clown, learned to do acrobatic stunts and juggle. In the Palace of Culture, he met his future wife Irina, who was engaged in dancing.
Following his dream, after graduating from school, Fedor went to Moscow to enroll in a circus school, but did not become a student and joined the army. After the service, Fedor returned home and decided to get married. His father advised him to put aside his circus dream for a while and find a job that would help support his family. Dobronravov thus became a factory worker and continued to play in factory amateur shows in the evenings.
Four years in a row, Fedor went to Moscow to enter Shchukin’s school – and each time without success. The actor recalled that after the race there were rumors that he had a wife in Moscow, to whom he traveled under the guise of entrance exams. After another failure, someone advised Dobronravov to try at the Voronezh Art Institute, where graduates of the Shchukin School teach. So the actor Dobronravov ended up in Voronezh. He entered for the first time, and after graduating from the institute, he began working in the local youth theater, and then in Satyricon.

Valery Meladze
Valery’s parents were far from art – almost everyone in the Meladze family had an engineering education. But dad liked to sing when he went out with the kids on weekends, which embarrassed Valery terribly. He himself did not think about music, although his parents tried to instill in their son a love of art and sent him to a music school.
Meladze planned to become a pilot or cosmonaut – he was even named after Valery Bykovsky, who flew into space shortly before the future star of the scene was born. The artist carried his childhood dream until graduation – he planned to enter an aviation or radio engineering university. Due to confusion with the draft, Valery was late for the exams – in order not to waste time, he had to submit documents to the Nikolaev Shipbuilding Institute, where his brother studied.
The decision became fatal. While studying at the institute, Valery managed to get married and have a child, write a dissertation and become a musician.
