Today it was revealed that one of the strongest and most harmonious couples in Hollywood has split. The couple has lived together for almost two decades, raising three children – 15-year-old Kayden, 14-year-old Hayes and 12-year-old Grace. Kristin filed papers citing “irreconcilable differences.” Kevin filed his answer to the divorce.
“It is with great sadness that we inform you that circumstances beyond his control have occurred which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to attend divorce proceedings. We ask that the privacy of him, Christine and their children be respected as they go through this difficult time,” Costner’s spokesperson said in a statement.
Surrounded by the owner of two Oscars, they say that there should be no disputes about property, since the couple concluded a prenuptial agreement. However, in the event of a divorce, Costner will still have to pay damages. “Spousal support must be paid to the applicant in accordance with the terms of the parties’ prenuptial agreement,” said his lawyer, Laura Wasser. Kevin and Christine agreed to joint custody of the children.
The actor and model started dating in 2000 and tied the knot in 2004 at Costner’s ranch in Aspen, Colorado. Costner was married to Cindy Silva from 1978 to 1994. They have three children together – Annie (39), Lily (36) and Joe (35). The Bodyguard star also has an illegitimate son, Liam Costner, with Bridget Rooney, whom he dated after breaking up with Cindy.
The insider said that the reason for the divorce with Christine was largely the series “Yellowstone”, in which the actor plays the main role. Costner had disagreements with screenwriter Taylor Sheridan. The Paramount Network project has become so popular that producers are renewing it for a fifth season. The actor recently received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor for his performance as John Dutton. However, filming in the series takes up all of Kevin’s free time and he cannot devote himself to other projects. Baumgartner’s problem is that her husband is never at home.
“She is fed up with her husband’s busy work schedule. It really put a dent in their family life. The show is such a mega hit, the producers want it to go on forever!” – Daily Mail quotes an insider.
Christine ran out of patience and gave Kevin an ultimatum – either he starts devoting time to her and the children or she leaves him. “As anyone who knows anything about Kevin is well aware, he is incredibly passionate about the show and has gone above and beyond to ensure its success. However, Christine wants her husband to hang his cowboy hat on a nail. He wants a strong commitment to his family, so it’s either his last season or he has to go home,” the close couple added.
