The story of Valentin Yudashkin and his wife Marina: a quick marriage and eternal love for a star

Just in recent decades, Yudashkin was a real star of the fashion industry, a designer who showed his collections in Paris, dressed the main stars of Russian show business, and dressed foreign stars of the first magnitude, for example, Lady Gaga.

But when Marina and Valentin met, everything was different. It was 1987, and no fashion houses were being talked about yet. Both worked in the Central Design Bureau under the Ministry of Public Utilities.

The 24-year-old Yudashkin, a recent graduate of the Moscow Industrial School, came to work there as a senior artist. In addition, his duties included the function of a make-up artist and fashion designer. Fortunately, in the educational institution he defended two theses at once – “History of costume” and “Make-up and decorative cosmetics”. The young man was so busy that he sometimes had to spend the night at the workplace. A great responsibility rested on Yudashkin’s shoulders. For example, he created sketches for the equipment of the hairdressing team of the Soviet Union.

You may have the impression that Valentin had absolutely no time to raise his head from the table, yet he managed to notice a spectacular tall girl named Marina among his colleagues. She was 29 years old and worked as a hair stylist.

The future designer did not hesitate – after three meetings, which took place mainly in a working environment, because they both lacked free time, he called Marina to get married. And to her surprise, she immediately agreed.

A hasty marriage could be confusing for foreigners. Well, what good can come of such haste when they haven’t really had time to get to know each other? But the lovers did not react to the doubters – after all, they themselves knew that they had found true love.

Yudashkin sewed a wedding dress for his beloved, breaking the still popular superstition – the groom should not see the bride’s clothes.

“Then I made her a dress for the first time. It was a wedding dress, very beautiful, covered in orchids. This flower goes through our whole life, I really love orchids. The wedding was very beautiful, maybe more could be imagined now, but that was back then. I believe that it was remembered for a lifetime, because we prepared, because they usually hide the dress from the groom, “Yudashkin recalled.

In 1990, the couple had a daughter, Galina. And then the strength of feelings had to be tested. No, they didn’t doubt themselves – they were testing the power of love, rather the surrounding reality. The rough 90s were upon us, and Yudashkin was just launching his own fashion business. To support her husband, Marina sold her fur coat, some family antiques and the Zhiguli car. So there was money to open a studio and prepare a collection. Moreover, it was Marina who initiated the sale – so she trusted her husband and wanted to help him. Yudashkin himself at that time had little time to help his wife, and yet the family had a small child. But Marina treated it with understanding – the main thing is that the husband can create.

“When the child was born, we lived in a one-room apartment, there was nowhere to draw, but everything was so arranged in the house that nothing distracted me,” Yudashkin himself recalled this period.

A month after the birth of his daughter, the fashion designer presented his first collection in Paris.

Marina devoted her life to her husband, left her own work and helped her beloved in everything. And Yudashkin greatly appreciated this support and said that she was exactly the kind of woman he needed – the fashion designer, surrounded by the first beauties, never looked at others for more than 30 years of marriage.

“I’m conservative, I have a family. And that’s the point, “said Yudashkin firmly, noting how important it is for spouses to be like-minded people.

And Marina said that she is not one of those who love with her ears – she always appreciated not words, but actions. The couple managed to keep calm at home – there were no scandals, especially with the child.

“The most important thing in life is not a compliment. The main thing is that there is no offense, “said Marina wisely.

In 2016, the family faced new challenges. Yudashkin began to have serious health problems. It soon became known that he was battling cancer – esophageal cancer. The fashion designer began to appear in public less often. The development of the fashion house was taken over by his daughter Galina, while Marina traditionally carefully surrounded her husband.

The treatment and support of loved ones paid off: Yudashkin continued to work and began to attend events again. Marina encouraged her husband in every possible way, she knew how important work was for him and did not allow him to withdraw into himself. The wife tried to do everything so that Valentin Abramovich could continue to lead a familiar life. Yudashkin showed incredible courage: the fashion designer endured complex abdominal operations, and then, stylish as always and with a new haircut, came out and presented new collections. In recent years, Yudashkin lost a lot of weight, but doctors still managed to stabilize his condition.

And now the fateful news – the legendary Russian fashion designer died after a long battle with the disease. He lived just a little more than six months before his 60th birthday. Yes, a person’s life is cut short, but death never erases what you’ve been through in love. A love that will become eternal.
