The legendary couturier’s heart stopped on April 30. “Red Dior”, as Zaitsev was called in many countries, had a great influence on the Russian scene. He created many memorable outfits for Alla Pugacheva, Philip Kirkorov, Edita Piekha and other artists. The husband of the 74-year-old People’s Artist of the USSR honored the memory of the master.
“Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Zaitsev died. Excellent master. Our everything in the fashion world of the Soviet era. Cheerful funny person. How many incredible shows, talented collections, innovative models have a long and unforgettable creative journey! Blessed memory,” he wrote on his personal blog Maxim Galkin (included in the list of persons acting as a foreign agent).
Valentina Yudashkina’s wife often spoke with Zaitsev at various events. She shared a picture that is dear to her – on it the designer posed with her husband and Vyacheslav Mikhailovich. “Glory to Zaitsev! The fashion world has lost a very talented artist! Eternal memory of you,” he said Marina Yudashkina.
Channel One Host Arina Sharapova I remembered how I worked with Zaitsev in the same program. “Vyacheslav Zaitsev is no more.” In the last years of his life, we hardly saw each other. But in “Fashionable Sentence” they worked together for five years. Bright, thin, commanding. friend. Not a traitor. It was absolutely durable in the extreme conditions of demanding filming. Fame will be missed. Rest in peace…” — shared the TV star.
Zaitsev was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2016. The fashion designer moved and spoke with great difficulty. He fell ill yesterday in his studio in the village of Kablukovo near Moscow. The designer was taken to Shchelkovo city hospital with gastrointestinal bleeding. Vjačeslav Michajlovič died in the intensive care unit at 6 p.m. He was 85 years old.
