‘It’s visible from a young age’: Tom Cruise’s ex-wife says she has to protect her 16-year-old daughter

Suri is Katie’s only daughter from her marriage to Tom Cruise. The actors divorced in 2012 after six years of marriage. The reason for the divorce was Tom’s passion for Scientology. After the breakup, Holmes secured sole custody of Suri.

Now the actress is actively attracting the schoolgirl to her own projects. Suri has done soundtracks for two films of the star mom. Holmes noted that she is not doing this to promote her daughter in Hollywood.

But both of those experiences came out of a feeling that I like about this industry – you have projects and you become a family with people. This is a safe, beautiful and creative space. One of the projects that Kate and Suri collaborated on was the film Rare Items. There is a violent scene in the film where the young heroine is sexually abused. Holmes reacted responsibly to her filming so as not to hurt women’s feelings.

“The most important thing was how it turned out later. To me, sexual abuse among women is unfortunately a known secret. So we don’t need to share details to know what we are talking about. Julia Mayorga was so incredible in that scene and it was really hard to shoot because I needed her face. I said to both partners, “Your faces are needed.” So they had to go in that direction.
