The connection did not save: where the most “rogue” stars of Russian show business disappeared, promoted by the star’s parents

Lena Zosimová

In the 1990s, Lena Zosimova’s songs like “Girlfriend” and “Line of Love” could only be hidden in a distant taiga. The girl’s influential father, Boris Zosimov, owned a music publishing house and the BIZ-TV channel, which later became the Russian MTV channel, and spared no expense for the rotation of his daughter’s songs. Major pop stars of the time were attracted to work with the young singer: Dmitry Malikov, Bogdan Titomir and others.

True, this still did not bring Lena the love of people – her attractiveness was obvious, and her abilities were very doubtful, so they openly laughed at the girl. It was said that Zosimov even negotiated with Michael Jackson and was ready to pay him $ 1 million to shoot Lena’s video, but the crisis of 1998 seriously affected Zosimov’s financial possibilities. Lena’s singing career began to take off, she tried as a TV presenter, but it didn’t work out there either. At the beginning of 2000, Zosimová disappeared from the public field and became a housewife.

Kira Plastinina

In the mid-2000s, Kira Plastinina became a real event in Russian show business. The daughter of businessman Sergei Plastinin was only 14 years old when her first clothing boutique opened. Kira produced things in a sporty and glamorous style, the brand was aimed at young girls. The most powerful media sources were brought up to promote her brand. Even the main icon of the time, Paris Hilton, flew to Moscow to visit the Kira store and played in the company of the brand. Joint photos of Kira and the overseas star immediately spread across the media. According to rumors, Paris received 2 million dollars from Plastinin for her visit.

At its peak, the brand had 120 stores worldwide, including the UK, China and Italy. But in 2010, the former hype began to fade, and by 2017 the company finally went bankrupt, with debts reaching 500 million rubles. At that time, even Kira herself lost interest in the fashion world: she married American financier Trey Valletta and moved to the USA.

Vlad Topalov

Duet Smash! in the early 2000s, it was the main boy group in Russian show business. According to Sergey Lazarev and Vlad Topalov, all the schoolgirls went crazy. The group was promoted by Vlad’s father, Mikhail Topalov, who was the group’s producer and director, and actually came up with the group to support his son.

At first, everything went well: the clips were played on TV, the duo won the New Wave competition, but already in 2004 they broke up unexpectedly. Lazarev immediately began a solo career, but Vlad performed under the Smash! brand for some time, but his former popularity was no longer – ironically, it was Lazarev who gained more fame.

Topalov, on the other hand, became addicted to alcohol and illegal substances, which he says ultimately ruined his career. Vlad eventually managed to overcome his addictions, but he has not yet succeeded in becoming a popular artist again. Today, Topalov is married to TV presenter Regina Todorenko, they are raising two sons.

Ariana

In 2002, the song “Under the Spanish Sky” broke into all the charts and everywhere. It was produced by 15-year-old singer Ariana and produced by her father Gregory Greenblat.

Ariana was born and lived in the United States until she was seven years old, but then the family moved to Moscow, where the girl began to study music. Ariana’s father introduced her to his friend, musician and producer Matvey Anichkin, who began writing songs for her in Russian (English lyrics were written by Ariana herself). Clips for the young singer were shot by then fashion director Yuri Grymov, she recorded a duet with Alexander Marshall and won a number of prestigious music awards. Ariana released her last album in 2005 and then disappeared from show business.

In 2010, the singer married Lev Grachev-Schneur, a businessman and former soloist of the group Tete-a-Tete, returned to live in the United States and started a restaurant business. However, her restaurant closed in 2015. She gave a crack and family life with her first husband. Ariana divorced him and announced in 2022 that she would marry for the second time – real estate agent Bobby Yazdani became her chosen one.
