The LA native’s career in Hollywood hasn’t been going well, but Meghan’s former co-star has rubbished claims she was an unknown B-star before she met Prince Harry. Markle lived for several years in Canada, where she played the role of assistant Rachel Zane in the series.
Dancing on Ice contestant Colin Grafton, 31, made several appearances in the show’s sixth season. He said the actress had a solid fan base then. “I think it was the moment she was dating Harry, but it wasn’t public yet. But she already had a lot of fans waiting for her outside,” Grafton said.
Colin admitted that he got the role by accident when he ran into Gabriel Macht, who played the main character Harvey Specter. They discussed Grafton’s career in figure skating, after which the artist introduced him to the director.
Colin said he originally only signed up as an extra because he was on vacation. He admitted that he hadn’t watched the series before and didn’t know who Megan was. Without seeing the show first, the man assumed he’d have a chance to impress if he wore a nice suit—and it worked. “The director saw me and said, ‘We need you front and center!'” Grafton recalled.
The role in the series “Higher Power” became the most significant for Megan’s career. She previously admitted that she almost failed the audition. The future Duchess of Sussex revealed on her blog The Tig that she had forgotten her lines. She ended up calling her heartbroken agent to tell her she wasn’t getting the part, the Mirror reports.
“I messed it all up. This is what I told my agent after auditioning for the pilot. I kept forgetting my lines, I got distracted. It was shit because I really wanted it. I really liked Rachel. But I screwed up. I wanted it, but I missed my chance. Or so I thought,” Markle said. Fortunately for Meghan, she landed a role that brought her some success and recognition.
