The film is based on the story of the same name by Ivan Sergeyevich Turgenev, which relates to the late period of his work. The story takes place in the middle of the 16th century in Ferrara. The picture was shot by Andrzej Zulawski, who, by the way, started as Andrzej Wajda’s assistant, and then “grew up” to make films with Romy Schneider and Klaus Kinski and Isabelle Adjani.

One of the main roles here was played by Pyotr Vysockij – Muzia, and his partner was once again Beata Tyszkiewicz.

Petr Vysockij was born on April 13, 1936 in Toruń. In 1964, he graduated from the Kraków Theater Academy, after which he began acting in films and theater. Until 2001, he was a member of the ensemble of the Osterwy Theater in Lublin. The actor has a son.
