We say “The X-Files” – we mean Mulder and Scully. The pair of agents played by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson really became the soul of the whole project. But there were many other interesting characters in the series. And if Duchovny and Anderson had quite successful careers even after The X-Files, then many of their colleagues on the set remained actors of the same role.
Such is the fate of Canadian actor Nicholas Lee. You certainly remember him for the role of one of the main antagonists of the series – the insidious Alex Krycek, who appeared to be kind and sweet, but turned out to be a villain.
But one can understand and forgive those who didn’t immediately recognize him as Agent Smoker – Krycek (and Nicholas Lee) was incredibly handsome and charming.
It’s strange that Lee initially had a cameo and played a completely different character, but the producers liked it so much that they ended up giving him a more solid role.
Another curious fact: Krycek in the story is of Russian-American descent, the son of two Cold War immigrants.

Nicholas acted a lot after The X-Files and still does today, only he is still recognized as the same Krycek. And Lee, it seems, is not offended – he takes part in fan events with pleasure, signs autographs and does not refuse selfies.
