The condition of the figure skater, who is in the intensive care unit at the Kommunarka hospital, has worsened again. Because of the developing necrosis, surgeons performed another operation in which they amputated almost the entire left arm.

“He was transferred to the operating room this morning. Doctors managed to remove all tissue affected by necrosis. All the fingers on the left hand were amputated,” a source told Ren-TV.

The former participant of “Ice Age” has been fighting for his life for the third month. Today, doctors announced that Kostomarov has serious liver problems caused by taking a large amount of medication.

The doctors assured that now Roman’s condition does not worry them. However, if the necrosis continues to develop, it can be further amputated.

The attending physician of the Olympic champion previously explained that they were forced to perform several operations due to gangrene, which arose against the background of sepsis. Kostomarov had the soles of both his feet amputated, then his shins and his right hand. The figure skater’s left hand caused serious concern among doctors, the day before her fingers were amputated. “There is a serious chance that the patient will survive,” assured Sergey Carenko, director of the National Medical Research Center “Center for Treatment and Rehabilitation”.
