“Tragedy happened to us”: Cream Soda founder Dmitry Svirgunov fell through the ice 03/20/2023, 14:55

The musician himself comes from Yaroslavl. During the pandemic, the founder of the group Cream Soda and the techno project Locked Club bought a house in a picturesque place on the banks of the Volga, often went there to relax with friends. On the night of March 20, Dmitry celebrated his birthday here in a large company.

Svirgunov’s friends explained that they had a long tradition – they crossed the Volga on foot several times during the winter. This time they decided to repeat the dangerous adventure in the second half of March. After a hearty feast, 11 people went out on the ice: 7 men and 5 girls.

The youth successfully reached the opposite shore, but on the way back the melted ice could not support their weight and cracked. As a result, five people went into the water – Dmitry himself, his 25-year-old brother Roman, 27-year-old friend Aristarkh Ukhtumsky, 29-year-old hockey player Georgy Kiselev and another party guest. The girl was immediately rescued. Aristarchus managed to cling to the icy ridge, and was found by rescuers two hours later. However, on the way to the hospital, Ukhtumsky died of general hypothermia.

Three people, including the “Crying for Techno” and “No More Parties” singer, are missing. A search and rescue team quickly arrived at the scene of the incident. Divers announced this afternoon that they had found the body of one of the men and the identification process was underway. Now the search for the rest continues.

Representatives of the popular home band made an official statement. “We had a tragedy last night. Our Dima Nova was walking along the Volga in the company of friends and fell through the ice. Dima, his brother Roma and friend Grisha Kiselev are still looking for the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Aristarchus, our friend, who had also fallen through the ice, managed to get in, but could not be saved. As soon as we have information from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, we will inform you,” the short message reads.
