Comedian and TV star Jimi Kimmel was commissioned to host the ceremony for the third time. Before the Oscars, the network discussed his possible fee. It turns out that the presenter receives quite a bit for his work at the main world film award – 15 thousand dollars. At least Kimmel announced that amount of his fee in 2017.

During the show, of course, the host couldn’t help but joke about the most memorable moment of the final ceremony – Will Smith’s slap on Chris Rock.

“If somebody in this room commits an act of violence … you’re going to get the Oscar for best actor and you’re going to have a 19-minute speech,” Kimmel joked.

The main musical moment of the ceremony was supposed to be Rihanna’s performance of the song Lift Me Up from the movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but shortly before the ceremony it became known that she would have a competitor – Lady Gaga also decided to perform at the Oscars with the song Hold My Hand from Top Gun: Maverick. Both songs were nominated in the “Best Song” category, but both were left without a statuette.

However, the performances of the divas could hardly be more dissimilar to each other. Lady Gaga took the stage in jeans and no make-up, while pregnant Riri glowed in an archive dress by Maison Margiela.

For the third time in the history of the Oscars, a directing duo won the award in the best director category. This time, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert won the statuettes for “Everything, everywhere, at once”. The last such case was in 2008, when the Coen brothers won.

Oscar-winning comedy sci-fi thriller All Around, about a Chinese immigrant who tries to connect with versions of herself from parallel worlds to save the multiverse. The film collected four statuettes in the main categories: “Best Film”, “Best Director”, “Best Actress”, “Best Actor in a Supporting Role”, “Best Actress in a Supporting Role”, “Best Original Screenplay” and “Best Editing”. The result is 7 statuettes from 11 nominations.
