Roberto Cavalli was born on November 15, 1940 in Florence. As a teenager, he dreamed of the world of rock and roll and dreamed of putting together his own band. However, he could neither sing nor play a musical instrument and quickly realized the futility of his venture. After that, the young man became interested in organizing parties, and then entered an art school, where he studied weaving and creating prints. It was they who would bring him world fame years later. The designer’s brand will be especially popular in the 2000s, when dresses with animal patterns were worn by all fashionistas.
But if the professional achievements of Cavalli are well known to everyone, then few know about his personal life and are full of interesting facts.
When Roberto was 20 years old, he met Silvanella Giannoni. The girl’s parents were not happy with her boyfriend because he had no education and a steady source of income. After that, the future designer managed to earn money for organizing discos. However, they had to accept the selection of the daughter. When Robert was 24, he married Silvanella and they had two children.
Cavalli’s next wife was beauty pageant contestant Eva Düringer. In fact, they met at the Miss Universe pageant in 1977, and Eva became an instant favorite of Cavalli, who was on the jury. They became a couple, although the relationship was officially registered only later. Cavalli had three more children in this relationship. In 2010, Roberto and Eva divorced.
And in 2014, a new woman appeared in the fashion designer’s life – a former Playboy model who is 45 years younger than him. The woman is called Sandra Bergman.
In 2023, she gave birth to Cavalli’s son Giorgio, thus the designer became a father for the sixth time at the age of 82. He said in an interview for the Italian magazine Novella 2000. Cavalli named his son in honor of his father, who was killed during World War II.
Cavalli indulges its loved ones with luxurious gifts. In 2015, for example, he gifted her a private island off the coast of her native Sweden worth over $2.6 million. The fashion designer can easily afford such purchases, as his fortune is estimated at $500 million. That’s why he enjoys life in retirement: he travels a lot, relaxes on board a yacht and even manages to see glamorous parties.
I could easily become an ambassador for the Italian Longevity program if it existed!
