“I broke my leg in two places”: Emir Kusturica was hospitalized in Serbia 03/02/2023, 07:35

The incident occurred near the village of Drvengrad, which was built by a cameraman. The director fell and suffered a severe leg fracture. Next to Kusturica was a man who could set the joint. Emir was immediately taken to the hospital.

“What an irony of fate: a person who has done so many concerts, climbed the stage many times, piloted a helicopter, slipped on an ordinary frozen tree. When I fell, I broke my joint in two places, my right leg was literally torn off,” Kusturica said bitterly.

The 68-year-old director is being treated at the Banitsa Orthopedic Surgery Institute in Belgrade. He has an operation scheduled for today.

Despite the injury, Kusturica is still going to Russia for the festival of film debuts “Spirit of Fire”. Last fall, the artist was approved as the president of the festival, which begins on March 3 in Khanty-Mansiysk. The director will work in plaster at the events.

Roman Kostomarov is still in the intensive care unit. It was known that an Olympic champion could have his leg amputated.

Elena Proklová recently reported a leg injury. Now the artist has to move on crutches.
