The Hollywood star has faced online attacks over her figure following recent outings. Selena made rare revelations about her battle with an autoimmune disease that forces her to regularly take pills.

“My medications are important and I believe they are helping me. A minor side effect is incomparable to my health. When I don’t take them, I tend to lose weight,” Gomez said.

The girl promotes the principles of body positivity. They don’t judge people according to some scales and weights. The singer responded harshly to the haters. “Go away because frankly I don’t believe in shaming people for their bodies or anything like that. So yes, I’m not a model and never will be! And I think the models are amazing – remember – it’s just that I’m definitely not like that,” the former Disney star said.

Selena encouraged fans to practice self-love and self-acceptance. “I just wanted to say and encourage anyone who is ashamed of their appearance. No one knows the real story and what they are going through. I just want people to know that they are beautiful and amazing. And yes, we have days where we might feel like shit, but I’d rather be healthy and take care of myself,” the “Lose You to Love Me” singer said.

According to Gomez, she received a lot of negative comments after attending the Golden Globes in January. Former lover Justin Bieber said that haters will not shame her for her body. The girl is not ashamed to publish candid shots without photoshop, she expressed her willingness to continue debunking myths about beauty. “I decided to take care of myself because I want to, and not to prove something to anyone,” the star is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

In September 2017, the singer and actress underwent a kidney transplant due to complications from lupus. She emotionally thanked a close friend who became her donor. “There are no words to thank my beautiful friend Francia Rais. She gave me the greatest gift by donating me a kidney. I am incredibly happy. I love you so much sis,” Selena said.
