The condition of the Olympic champion still worries doctors. Relatives are almost always close to Roman – his wife Oksana and brother Denis. Domnina explained why her husband turned to the doctor late. His hand hurt, he took anti-inflammatory drugs and pain pills, this “blurred” the moment when the pneumonia started.

“Roman didn’t feel bad, the only symptom was a slight cough that appeared at the beginning of January. I don’t think it’s something abnormal, we athletes always work, even if we have a fever, as long as we have the strength, “said Oksana. The figure skater gave an example – on December 30, she collapsed with a temperature of over forty degrees and performed on the ice the very next day.

When Kostomarov was taken to Kommunarka Hospital in the capital in critical condition, the best specialists took care of his rescue. According to Oksana, the relatives were warned about possible consequences from the very beginning.

“A council of the best doctors was assembled. My husband had a very severe, difficult condition, all indicators went off the scale, it was actually numbers that they do not live with and do not survive. And my husband was born again and the fact that he is with us now is a great miracle and thanks to the doctors and great luck, and that is the most important thing for us,” said the world champion emotionally.

Doctors are trying different treatment tactics, coordinating all their actions with him and his relatives. Oksana sees that the staff is rooting for the patient wholeheartedly, and she is grateful for that. “When Roman gets better – and that will definitely happen! – and he finds the strength to talk about what he experienced, he will definitely say everything himself,” Domnina is quoted by AiF.

At the same time, the famous athlete denied the information that Kostomarov’s mother was not admitted to the hospital. According to her, there are no bans, they just decided that it would be better this way. “The mother is very worried, it is extremely difficult for her to see Roma in this condition, so together with her and Roma’s brother, we decided that it would be better for her not to go to the hospital just yet. We continue to pray that Roman recovers as soon as possible, accepts the whole situation and continues to live a full life,” added Oksana.
