Figure skaters are 52 years old. In recent years, Peter has led such a closed lifestyle that he does not even maintain a relationship with his former partner in ice dancing, with whom he became a five-time US champion.

However, Naomi does not give up trying to establish communication with Peter, whom she considers not only a colleague, partner, but also her close friend. On Chernyshev’s birthday, the athlete published rare footage with him, she warmly addressed the birthday man.

“Happy birthday to my skating partner Peter Chernyshev! I wish him all the best! My family and I are thinking of you and wishing you good health! Happy birthday my friend,” said Lang.

Naomi is the first Native American to compete in the Winter Olympics. Her father is a full-blooded Karuk Indian. Together with the Russian figure skater, the girl got up in 1996 and it was with him that she reached the greatest heights in her career. They have won the US Championship five times in a row, won the Four Continents Championship twice and competed together in the 2002 Olympics.

In 2003, the pair withdrew from the US Championship due to an injury to Naomi. After that, the duo ended their amateur sports careers. However, the collaboration between Lang and Chernyshev did not end there. They took part in various ice shows, including touring the cities of Russia with Yevgeny Plushenko’s “Golden Ice Stradivari” program.

Last November, Naomi emotionally asked Peter to hook up with her. The figure skater said that he had not communicated with her for almost two years, although she had known him since she was 18 and considered him a close person, a brother. Lang asked if Chernyshev, his daughter and his wife were all right. Peter is married to Anastasia Zavorotnyuk, who has been fighting a brain tumor since 2019. The couple has a 4-year-old daughter, Mila.

Lang has an 18-year-old daughter, Lily-Ashley, with Ukrainian ice acrobat Vladimir Besedin. Now the skater is married to Mark Fitzgerald, who has performed in ice dancing for Canada and Kazakhstan. The couple has two children together – 13-year-old son Mason and 9-year-old daughter Madeleine.
