Variety legend, singer and actress Olga Vardasheva has died. She was reported at the Music Hall Theater where she served for over 40 years.

“Olga Olegovna was one of those rare artists whose art speaks directly to the hearts of listeners. Her stage works will remain forever in the hearts of all admirers of her generous talent,” assured Yulia Strizhak, director of the Music Hall Theater.

The pop singer worked at the Music Hall Theater from 1966 to 2014. She was its leading soloist. The management of the St. Petersburg Theater noted that Vardashev’s original musical programs are an integral part of the city’s cultural life.

“Olya Vardasheva left! Star, prima donna and symbol of the Leningrad Music Hall. She appeared to Ilya Yakovlevich Rachlin as a nineteen-year-old girl at the Kirov Palace of Culture and was the first to be admitted. And she lived a bright, half-century life. I’ve been friends with her all these years, and today I have pain and longing in my heart because the founding era of the Music Hall is gone with her. Our wonderful youth is gone! Gone is the uniqueness! Rest in peace, star!” Director Lev Rakhlin expressed his condolences.

In cinema, Vardasheva is best known for her roles in the films Sentimental Romance, Heavenly Swallows, Seven Happy Notes and The Hat.

The actress spent the last years of her life in the Republic of North Ossetia. Farewell to Olga Olegovna will take place on January 17 in Beslan, her hometown.
