Laima Vaikule has been making money with us for half a century. After leaving her, she declared that thanks to her the USSR was nourished, and thanks to Alla Pugacheva – Russia. After that, the Latvian artist was mockingly nicknamed “the breadwinner” on the web.
The daughter of Edita Piekha admitted that these words of the pop star surprised her. Ilona believes that none of the artists could support such a huge country.
“This is absurd! Edita Piekha would never say that. Yes, in the USSR, the lion’s share of state income went through Lenconcert, Mosconcert, Gosconcert, Philharmonic… But these organizations provided everything to artists! It was an analogy of production companies, “Bronevitskaya explained.
She said that Lenconcert bought costumes and equipment for her mother and the whole team, as well as paid for the hotels on the tour and took literally all the expenses. Edita Piekha was one of the first in the country to receive free studio equipment.
“And the state paid for everything. A lot of things were free: apartments, education, all medicines… Today it is not there, “said Ilona. She recalled that the rate for the concert was not 17 rubles, as claimed by Laima, but 19. If there were two sections, then the rate was paid twice. “There were various surcharges. Let me give an example: in the amount of 19 rubles, Lyudmila Zykina received 300 rubles for one concert tour, ”explained the mother of Stas Piekha.
He assures that even at that time popular artists made decent money. “I perceive Laima Vaikule’s words about “he supported the entire Soviet Union” as an insult to my friend Alla Pugacheva. Well, the girls insulted each other. It happened!” summed up Ilona in an interview for KP.
