‘Strong sense of style’: why Kate Middleton turned down gifts from luxury brands

Prince William’s wife allows minor infractions, but generally tries to follow strict royal protocol. The Princess of Wales carefully considers her images and always looks flawless in public. At the same time, Kate does not work with expensive brands that dress stars for free and would gladly provide outfits for royalty.

Middleton prefers clothes made in Britain. It has several proven and popular designers. The royal often complements her wardrobe with clothing from the mass market segment. She skillfully combines expensive accessories with dresses, skirts and blouses from quite affordable brands.

Goddaughter of the new King Charles III, India Hicks, explained why Kate follows such rules. “The extraordinary Princess of Wales does not want to receive gifts from brands. She found a balance. Her style has not outdone her or her goals. You don’t necessarily have to remember all the individual things, but together it all gives the impression of something very beautiful. I think Kate doesn’t want something to just be given to her, “said the 55-year-old representative of the British aristocracy.

India is the daughter of Lady Pamela Hicks, a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II’s late husband, Prince Philip. The girl was a bridesmaid at the wedding of Diana Spencer and the future King Charles in 1981. India is delighted with the taste of the new Princess of Wales. “She is a truly amazing woman and has now developed a very strong sense of style that goes hand in hand with the work she does,” the Daily Mail quoted Ms Hicks as saying.

The socialite settled in the Bahamas with her husband David Flint Wood. Five of their children live with them in the resort – sons Wesley, Felix, Emory, Conrad and daughter Domino. The couple came to Britain to celebrate their wedding anniversary in September. Here they received the news of the death of the 96-year-old monarch.

Mrs Hicks attended the Queen’s farewell ceremony alongside her 93-year-old mother. The woman admitted that Pamela was particularly upset by Her Majesty’s death. Elizabeth II and Prince Philip affectionately referred to Lady Pamela’s father as “Uncle Dickey”. He was believed to have had a strong influence on the young royal couple.
