11 years later: Pieces of Kate Middleton and Prince William’s wedding cake are up for auction in Britain

Royal weddings always attract the attention of millions of viewers. They spend a long time preparing for the celebrations and think over even the smallest details. Cakes deserve special attention. Ingredients, size and design are agreed well in advance of the event.

An unusual auction will take place in Britain, which has already attracted the attention of fans of the Prince and Princess of Wales. The Keys Auctioneers in Aylsham, Norfolk, will be presenting pieces of the cake from Kate Middleton and Prince William’s wedding 11 years ago. In addition, a part of the dessert with a 17-year history – puddings from the wedding of the new monarch Charles III – will go on sale. and his chosen Camilla Parker-Bowles.

Of course, we are not talking about eating the pieces. These are historical rarities that will be delivered in unusual souvenir boxes. The asking price for each of the pieces is between £400 and £600. However, they will go under the hammer for a much larger amount.

Kate Middleton and Prince William tied the knot at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011. The reception was held at Buckingham Palace. The fruit cake, which was baked for the big day, consisted of eight tiers of fondant flowers in the shape of Lambeth tubes. It was made by designer Fiona Cairns from Fleckney, Leicestershire. It took the confectioner and her team two days to assemble the extensive structure.

“There is a wedding rose that symbolizes happiness. Oak and acorn – architectural detail of the room where the cake will stand. They symbolize strength and endurance. There is a lily of the valley, which means tenderness and humility, and also ivy leaves, which symbolize marriage,” Fiona was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

Charles and Camilla’s wedding cake was baked by Don Blunden, owner of Sophisticated Cake at Woodhall Spa in Lincolnshire. Kate and William were married on 9 April 2005 at a reception in the State Apartments at Windsor Castle.

“With a new king on the throne and William becoming the new Prince of Wales, interest in royal memorabilia has increased even more. We look forward to a live auction of these pieces of history,” said auction director Tim Blythe.
