“I prove on stage that we deserve more”: Vanya Dmitrienko revealed the main goal of his work 07.24.2023, 17:20

Hit performer “Venus-Jupiter” is one of the most popular young artists in Russian show business. The masters of the scene call him their friend. In an exclusive interview with VOICE, Vanya Dmitrienko revealed why he decided to change his lifestyle, which of his duet songs he considers his favorite, how he relates to the negative comments of Diana Arbenina’s fans and much more.

– Vanya, is it true that today is an important day in your life?

– Yes, today I have an entrance exam for the director’s university. I really hope so. I passed the exam. I am a supporter of the fact that education is of course necessary. But not in the light in which it is presented. For me, learning is a constant impulse of the brain. The most important thing for a person is when his brain is working. If his thinking ceases to be in eternal impulse, then it is very difficult to restore everything later. I believe that studying is needed to constantly train your internal fuse to receive new information. I want to study full time. Because they involuntarily want to skip the turn. I studied at the correspondence department – and realized that this is not what I want. I understand that it will be very difficult for me to keep up with everything with my schedule. If I go to sleep at 3 in the morning for three days and wake up at 8 in the morning, then on the fourth day I will understand that I definitely don’t want to live like this. I will adjust my routine. Because with age, at 17, you understand that it is better to go to bed on time.

– What is your routine now?

– Now he is very destabilized. I will never call it anything good. I am experiencing the most beautiful years of my life, my youth – I try to walk, communicate with people. I love walking around Moscow at night. At the same time, I still write music at night.

– On July 8, you performed at the Spartak Stadium at Diana Arbeninová’s jubilee concert dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Night Snipers group. How did this collaboration come about?

Diana and I met on the set of a big show a year and a half ago. We started to communicate very closely, we are “at arm’s length”. I have great respect for her work. It was a great honor for me to sing at her annual concert. When Diana called me and offered to speak, I immediately agreed. Due to this concert, I have canceled several of my performances at other venues. Of course, any full-fledged pleasure requires a sacrifice. I am very happy that such a great musician trusts me with his audience. And when Diana made a post after the concert about how happy she was that I attended and that I was acting like a fish in water in a huge stadium, I was extremely happy.

– Yes, you have experience with stadium concerts – you performed at Gazprom Arena. Do you really feel like a fish out of water in stadiums or do you like club concerts, is it calmer there?

– I believe that an artist should feel good everywhere – even if only four people listen to him. Because his music is his inner world. There are performers who, on principle, do not like to perform in front of an audience. I am not one of them – I like to give joy to people, to see their happy eyes. Arbenina’s audience is, of course, impenetrable. But guys, my group and I cracked it.

– Many Diana fans spoke positively about your performance. It’s clear that the singer’s millions of fans won’t trade her for anyone. Did their negative comments hurt you?

You see, people have spent some time of their lives writing their opinions about me. And that means that the person did not remain indifferent to me. Even if he didn’t like something, the main thing is that my work evoked vivid emotions in him. In general, criticism that is expressed on a social network for the sake of self-affirmation does not seem reasonable to me. I listen to criticism that is expressed with respect for me, with a desire to suggest something or help in some way.

– You have duet songs with Grigory Leps, Tatyana Tkachuk (“We Michel”), Anet Say and other performers. Which of these songs do you like the most, do you sing them often – and which ones not so much?

— I have an amazing song with Lina Lee. This is one of my main duet stories. And this song “You are with me” is one of my favorites. It suits me best and reflects my thinking best. At that time, two years ago, Lina was not yet established as an artist, she did not have a large audience. I am very happy to have helped her gain new listeners. It was the main thing for me.

– This week you posted a photo shoot with horses on your personal blog. tell me what was that Maybe footage from a future video?

– Not because of the video. Before the concert, they took us horse riding. I saddled the horse. I had this experience as a child, my sister had a horse – I could even trot.

– Philip Kirkorov recently said that you understand the soul of the young generation. And what kind of soul do you think it is?

“The young generation constantly needs companions. For many guys, my songs are a chance to have your own point of view, the hope that you can achieve everything yourself. We believe we deserve more. For this, of course, you have to try and work very hard. I’m on stage just to show people that their dreams are real, you can achieve a lot if you really want to. And the soul of the young generation is in immediacy, stability in its position and zeal for new goals.

What genre of music do you think best expresses the soul of today’s young generation?

– If we talk about noisy parties – then rap, rock. And if it’s about everyday life – then, of course, pop.

– You have already played in series “Kindred” and “Oleg”. And your first big film role was working in the television series Cry-Baby. Tell me how you feel about the experience.

– This is an amazing experience. I am very glad that I participated in this project, I fell in love with it. And I learned about him from Serezhy Zhukov – we met by chance on a plane. He told me about everything. And this idea somehow materialized quickly. This is a project with a very talented director, a great cast and an incredible moral. I think for many this series will be very important – because it is about teenagers and for teenagers. And also for adults. I believe this series should be watched by parents – because we reveal the veil of truth behind what many are silent about. These are the topics of bullying, problematic relationships, disrespect. When teenagers don’t evaluate their actions and what injuries they get. The project is incredibly cool filmed, it is directly charged with soul. I wrote two songs for him – “Breathe” and “Chalk”very nice.

— Recently, Yandex Music added “Vanya Dmitrienko playlist with finds from My wave “Summer“. Tell us what songs it contains.

I fucking love these songs. This playlist has Twenty One Pilots, I love this band – I listen to them a lot, especially when I’m traveling. There is Max Korzh, which for me is associated with summer and a kind of inner immediacy. There are compositions by musicians ZOLOTO, “Degrees”, “OneRepublic”, “Milky Chance”. Their songs can isolate me from problems. They help me interpret. By the way, I very often listen to Summer playlists collected by other artists in My wave. It all works very interestingly – algorithms, artificial intelligence. They actually guess what I like.
