Dolph Lundgren married his partner Emma Krokdal in a romantic ceremony on Mykonos. The 65-year-old Rocky IV actor and his 27-year-old partner, who got engaged in 2020, got married in their villa. This is Dolph’s second marriage, he was married to Anette Qviberg from 1994 to 2011.
“We decided to celebrate our love by getting married at our villa in Mykonos with family and a few close friends. Due to Covid and the long journey of difficult treatment, we had to postpone our wedding plans many times. We felt that it was finally time to celebrate love, life and happiness – in the land of the gods,” said the newlyweds.
The Expendables star has two daughters: Ida (27) and Greta (21) with his ex-wife. Dolph married jewelery designer and fashion stylist Anette in 1994 in Marbella. Both their daughters were born in Stockholm. The artist proposed to Emma in 2020.
Dolph’s wedding was preceded by his battle with cancer. Lundgren said he was first diagnosed with lung cancer in 2015. According to the actor, he went into remission, but then the cancer returned in 2020. The doctor said Dolph has 2-3 years left to live. The athlete then sought a second opinion and the treatment he is now receiving has resulted in a reduction in the number of tumors.
“They removed one tumor, then they removed the other two they found and three more small ones. I hope they clean him up, if he dies, he dies,” Dolph said. He was referencing his memorable quote from the 1985 film Rocky IV after his character Ivan Drago killed Apollo Creed during their exhibition match.
In 2020, the action star was diagnosed with cancer again. When Lundgren returned to Sweden, he experienced acid reflux. The actor went for an MRI to understand what was happening to him. The examination revealed several tumors, one more was in the liver.
“That’s when it started to dawn on me that it was something serious. The surgeon called me that it had grown, that it was too big, that it had grown to the size of a small lemon. I asked them how long I had left, I think he said 2-3 years but I could tell from his voice that he meant less. I thought it was certain,” assured Dolph. He believes that steroid use has affected his body. Lundgren took them back in the 80s, 90s.
Emma was worried about her lover. According to her, Dolph had severe pain in his mouth, hands, and could not eat anything. “It was a fight, dude. We realized that everything is much worse than we thought, we started talking about tumors in the lungs, stomach, spine, besides the kidneys,” said Krokdal.
The artist’s daughter was also frightened. Ida talked to her father when he was sick. During this period, Dolph talked to her about the most horrible things. “It hit me when I had a deep conversation with my father about what would happen if he died. It was a terrible interview, it was difficult. I have to be strong for my sister,” Ida was quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.
