“Charlotte has adopted Kate Middleton’s emotional gestures”: Princesses’ behavior at Wimbledon assessed by body language expert 07/18/2023, 14:45

The 41-year-old Prince and Princess of Wales were headliners in the men’s final on the Wimbledon tennis court. Kate and William arrived at the tournament in the company of 9-year-old Prince George and 8-year-old Princess Charlotte. Only the couple’s 5-year-old son, Prince Louis, remained at home.

Body language expert Judy James noted that the young princess looked like a reflection of her mother during the thrilling duel between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, in which the former emerged victorious. The Welsh family are known tennis fans and watched the epic battle between the two athletes with genuine interest. Prince George and Princess Charlotte sat between their parents in the royal box.

“While her older brother was limited to spontaneous but more subtle gestures of support, Charlotte was in full battle cry, throwing her hands in the air with her mouth open in a fit of excitement,” Judy noted.

It was obvious that the young princess was choking and punching the air at crucial moments. Despite the strict royal protocol, Kate Middleton sometimes allowed herself the same gestures in moments of excitement on stage. Charlotte also mimicked the Princess of Wales’ moves as she covered her face with her hands during the dramatic moment.

“Charlotte also copied Kate Middleton’s gesture when the tension got too much. Although unlike her brother, she couldn’t help but look at the court. Charlotte and Kate make a very impressive double act with a high level of subliminal reflection. Their heads bowed together in a non-verbal sign of synchronicity and they moved or sat in similar positions as they watched the match,” the Mirror expert quotes.

There was another sweet moment of affection between mother and daughter. When Charlotte looked at her mother, Kate Middleton placed her fingers on her chin to gently lift her head. This gentle gesture showed that the girl received her full attention and support.

“Kate proved herself to be the queen of Wimbledon by taking on the very important role of leader and host, showing confidence and a real passion for the game through her body language. She was also a leader in her little family group, guiding Charlotte and George in their royal roles while William stepped back to proudly admire his wife and children,” James added.
