The memoir, titled The Woman in Me, goes on sale on October 24. The book will be published by Gallery Books, a division of Simon & Schuster. Spears promised to detail the circumstances of her years of guardianship and look at family members without embellishment.
The cover of the memoir features a black-and-white photo of Spears. The performer of the hit song Toxic poses topless in profile, covering her breasts with her hands and looking into the camera. The pop princess wears shiny metallic jeans.
Here it comes: my story, on my terms. Finally,” the singer said in the promotional video.
Senior Vice President and Publisher of Gallery Books Jennifer Bergstrom thinks Britney’s memoir will be a hit. The star’s fight for freedom became a significant event. Jennifer supports the artist in her desire to talk about personal matters.
“Britney’s compelling testimony in public court shocked the world, changed the law and showed her inspiring strength and courage. I have no doubt that her memoir will have the same impact and become the publishing highlight of the year. We are proud to have helped her finally share her story,” said Bergstrom.
According to a Gallery Books press release, the memoir aims to reveal for the first time “her incredible journey and power as one of the greatest performers in pop music history.” The Woman In Me is described as a bold and surprisingly moving story of freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith and hope.
It is specified that the book will not only tell about the difficult 13-year guardianship, but also about Spears’ rise to fame, her best years as an artist. The memoir deal was described as a “record breaking” deal by Variety and is worth $15 million. Spears finished writing the book last July, but a paper shortage in the publishing business delayed the release.
The memoir was shelved this May due to concerns from two unnamed A-list stars who wrote letters to the publisher about their potential mention in the book. The hardcover version will be available in the US for $32.99 (2,985 rubles), while the digital edition can currently be pre-ordered for $16.99 (1,537 rubles) and the audio version for $24.99 (2,261 rubles).
Spears previously said she decided to skip interviews with famous people, including Oprah Winfrey, to tell her story in her own words, the Daily Mail reports.
