“In 175 days,” Roman said. – All my life ago… Thanks to these people I’m alive. Unfortunately, I have lost a lot in this joint battle with death. But there was no other way. The huge “Kommunarka” team under the leadership of Denis Nikolayevich Protsenko did the impossible. He got me out of there. Thank you to everyone who was with me: treated, operated, restored, supported. Hello everyone.

The skater said he didn’t take his illness seriously in early January. After being amputated and waking up from a coma, he was able to overcome his depression and feel happy again.

“Six months ago, I didn’t understand or feel anything,” explained Kostomarov. – I coughed at home and left in the ambulance – probably to give myself an injection or to flush me out. I thought I’d be home in an hour. But what happened happened. It is a serious disease that almost took my life. After that I had many thoughts – it will be better one way or another. But I’m happy to be alive.”

Oksana Domnina helped her husband get out of a difficult situation. The figure skater did not leave him in the intensive care unit. Roman turned to the doctors for her.

“My wife, who took care of me from the first day, was afraid from the first day and saw what was happening,” admitted the participant of the Ice Age program. “Many tears were shed. And my brother took care of me. The best doctors and nurses did everything they could to save me. I leave in a good mood. And a big thank you to all of you!”
