The 82-year-old director expressed the opinion that his detractors simply do not know how to watch movies. Andrei Sergeevich was also offended by accusations that he unsuccessfully shot Yevgeny Tsyganov’s wife in the film.

“These average people write that the heroine is nothing special, ugly, etc.,” Anatoly Chubais’ father-in-law complained. – And Yulia Snigir is, in my opinion, one of the brightest beauties of world cinema. And few American or French actresses can compete with her in terms of beauty and talent.

The People’s Artist of Russia pointed out that some bloggers are even calling for his expulsion from the country. At the same time, the director is accused of taking Alexander Kuznetsov in the role of the young lover of the heroine Julia Snigir. The Keep Women actor emigrated to London last year.

“I consider the selection of Kuznetsov for this role a great success,” said the director. – He is a very talented artist and I think he worked very well in our picture. He hopes to shoot in Russia, and he also works there. But it is not on the poster, because the poster is unique, it seems to me, very talentedly made. There, this family, this chief sits under the shade, and there it reproduces the cozy atmosphere in this room, in the common apartment. No, there were no special considerations.

According to Smirnov’s calculations, out of 40 angry and negative reviews of his new film on the Internet, only two are enthusiastic. Andrei Sergeevich admitted that his wife then asked him: “And what conclusion do you draw from this?” “I said: ‘The picture was successful because the message reached the addressee,'” the filmmaker said on RTVI’s “Hang on!” program.
