A princess loved for her heart of gold: how Jordan’s King Aya’s niece proves looks don’t matter

While Jordan’s most beautiful princess, Haala bint al Hashim, is still hotly debated on the web, we are talking about 33-year-old Aye bint al Faisal. Many official photos showed Aya next to a young Haala, and users unfamiliar with the Hashemite family tree were confused, suggesting that the woman in the burgundy dress was an aunt or other older relative of Crown Prince Hussein.

Unfortunately, Princess Aye, the eldest daughter of King Abdullah II’s brother Prince Faisal and Alia Tabbaa, is no stranger to the fact that her looks are being debated. All her life, Aya was compared to her twin sisters Sarah and Aisha. The younger daughters of Faisal, whose mother, Queen Muna, is of British descent, have inherited Western genes. Slim, light-skinned and fair-haired, they are completely unlike Jordanians. Sarah and Aisha studied in London and became gossip darlings from a young age.

Aya also received a higher education in the UK, but she did not impress anyone with bright exits and fashionable clothes – she concentrated on her studies and family life.

In 2014, when the 24-year-old princess got married at the Zahran Palace, where the royal family holds most of its official ceremonies and social events (the tradition of celebrating weddings there was established by Abdullah and Rania), many commentators could not resist making stinging remarks. Netizens recalled the experiences of other Arab princesses who turned to plastic surgeons for their perfect appearance. But Aya clearly loves and accepts herself exactly as Allah created her – and that deserves respect.

Aya’s husband, Mohammed Halavani, was suspected of self-interest. A handsome guy of humble origin met the princess by chance and took her for granted without a second thought. There is practically no information about Mohammed himself, it is only known that he and his family are Jordanians, and the husband of the princess himself is very fond of football.

Be that as it may, the couple lived happily for almost 10 years – during this time, two daughters and a son were born to them. And the support of her husband helped the princess realize herself in public service.

Prince Faisal, father of Princess Aya, has been at the helm of the Jordanian Olympic Committee for 11 years and has been a member of the International Olympic Committee’s Executive Committee for many years.

Yes, Jordanian athletes are not champions in the number of medals and achievements, but the country simply loves sports in all its manifestations, and King Abdullah makes sure that Jordanian children have the opportunity to train and talented athletes receive state support.

And Princess Aya is one of the key royals in charge of this matter. He leads the Jordanian Volleyball Federation and has a decisive voice in the work of the Jordanian Olympic Committee. Those who had the opportunity to work with the princess noted her extraordinary diligence, fairness and desire to thoroughly understand the most difficult problems. The royal background does not prevent the princess from helping to build sports fields in poor areas and participating in the highest level meetings with the same enthusiasm. …

In addition, he has a great relationship with all his numerous brothers, sisters, cousins. In this, Aya is said to resemble her grandmother, Queen Muna. The princess is always friendly to everyone, caring and has a light nature. Crown Prince Hussein has considered her a close friend since childhood, and at home (yes, the house is big!) they call Aye “the princess with a heart of gold.” And that is definitely much more important than temporary external beauty…
