Chloe Sevigny’s career began with art cinema. In 1995, she made her debut in one of the central roles in the film “Kids” by independent director and film newcomer Larry Clark. In the world of underground and auteur cinema, the tape became an event and its provocative content duly outraged the public. Chloe began to appear regularly, but again and again she chose work in the field of “films not for everyone” and did not particularly aspire to mainstream projects.
Why did it happen? It turns out that the actress was influenced by her romance with the famous British singer and leader of the British group Pulp Jarvis Cocker. Chloe met him at the end of the 90s, when the team was at the height of its glory.
“I was in my early 20s at the time and I was dating a British pop star, Jarvis Cocker, and of course pop stars are much more famous than even actors. I remember driving through these remote towns in Wales with him and teenagers running down the street behind us. I thought, “This is terrible!” I saw how it affected him and that’s when I decided I never wanted to be a celebrity of that level. I think that’s why I decided to do what I do – to just work with directors that I love and do work that means something to me.”Sevigny admitted in a 2009 interview.
To this day, Chloe’s filmography consists mainly of independent and original cinematography, although she was able to work with recognized masters of the genre, whose films become events. For example with Lars von Trier and Jim Jarmusch.
But Chloe tied the knot with British rock stars – in 2020, she married Croatian gallerist Sinisa Makovich and gave birth to a son.
