‘He was trying to eat illegal substances’: Tina Turner’s son was arrested weeks before her death 22.06.2023, 14:50

The son of the late Tina and Ike Turner was taken into custody May 6 in Alvin, Texas on charges of possession of cocaine and tampering with evidence. A sixty-four-year-old man wanted to get rid of illegal substances. However, he failed to do so.

“He tried to eat the drugs before the officers could take them from him,” a police source said. Ike Jr. he failed to post $70,000 bail after his arrest and remains in custody at the Brazoria County Detention Center in Angleton, Texas. A passenger in the car with Ike Jr., Jessica Salinas-Esquivel, was also charged with possession of methamphetamine.

On May 6 at 12:09 AM, Ike Jr. pulled over in a white 2013 Ford Fusion for an equipment violation, a broken headlight or taillight, according to authorities. When searching the car, the police saw how the singer’s son tried to eat the drugs that were there – 1.7 grams of cocaine and 0.7 grams of methamphetamine. Prior to the incident, Ike Jr. had a warrant for his arrest unrelated to the case.

Less than three weeks later, the queen of rock and roll died at her home in Switzerland. It happened on May 24. The singer was 83 years old. She struggled with health problems for many years. Tina adopted her husband’s two children from a previous relationship: Ike and his brother Michael. The star had sons Craig with musician Raymond Turner and Ronald with Ike Turner.

Ike Jr., like his parents, made a musical career as a member of the tribute band The Love Thang Band along with singer Sweet Randi Love. He also won a Grammy for working with his father on the 2006 album Risin With The Blues. The album won for Best Traditional Blues Album.

Turner was involved in his mother’s musical endeavors. The man admitted that his father raised his hand to him. Once Hayk attacked his son during a concert. “When my mother and father separated, he didn’t want me to work with her. He hit me in the head with a nickel-plated .45 pistol,” Ike complained in 2018.

At the same time, he defended his father’s reputation in matters related to domestic violence. Hayk Jr. hasn’t spoken to the singer in nearly two decades.
