Valdis Pelsh underwent emergency surgery due to ischemic heart disease 14.06.2023, 16:30

The fifty-six-year-old presenter of the programs “Guess the melody” and “Vtip” underwent an emergency operation to treat ischemic heart disease – coronary artery stenting. First, Valdis underwent coronary angiography. Already during the procedure, he was diagnosed with atherosclerosis of the aorta – a cholesterol plaque that limited blood flow to the heart muscle and provoked angina pectoris.

In order to prevent a myocardial infarction and other negative consequences, doctors had to intervene. In one of the arteries that feed the heart, they installed a stent – ​​a special metal mesh that restored the lumen of the vessel. The operation was completed successfully. Now, according to Mash, Pelsh is recovering under the supervision of specialists.

Information about the TV presenter’s hospitalization appeared the day before. Allegedly, Valdis was sent to the Complex Cardiac Arrhythmia Unit. The manufacturer denied this information. He assured that his appearance at the doctors is planned.

“Everything is fine, I’m at the scheduled examination at the Višněvské Institute. We have an expedition to the mountains, before such expeditions we all undergo an examination,” Valdis is quoted as saying by TASS.

This is not the first time the director has faced health problems. In 2016, he was urgently hospitalized with several illnesses. Doctors prescribed a course of intensive care to the Channel One star. Then Pelsh also called his hospitalization planned.

In 2007, Valdis ended up in the hospital with an attack of acute pancreatitis. The TV presenter was diagnosed with pancreatic necrosis. Its early treatment could lead to multiple organ failure and even death. Serious consequences were avoided. The musician had to follow a strict diet: give up fatty foods and alcohol. Sometimes Valdis wanted to break this regime. However, in such moments, he remembered himself in the hospital.

Pelsh couldn’t walk, he couldn’t feel his legs. The first ten days were particularly difficult for him. He had drainage, eye drops, without which he could go three or four hours a day. Information about the artist’s hospitalization also appeared in 2016 and 2019. Most recently, insiders pointed to heart problems with the TV star.
